This is my own unique style of bodywork, "Muscle Dialogues". I use a combination of techniques (Myo-fascial and Trigger Point Release plus Reiki levels I and II, and cranial sacral therapy) along with my highly sensitive intuitive listening to your muscles, to personalize the treatment. Empathic, lighter pressure massage allows the system to reach out and ask for assistance, direct the therapy, and find it's way home to a true resting place.
Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. I focus my attention on creating a gentle, nurturing environment for you to relax into.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.
This is a technique that uses holding of body parts, in a steady and still way, to encourage the body to deeply settle and relax. I use the most basic holds, at back of the head, the side of the head, the side of the hip/glut, and the ankles. I find it gives clients a profound sense of calm. I use it to help with pain issues, anxiety, overwhelm, grief and depression.
The client is face-up for the entire session, with a bolster under the knees, and kept warm with blanket and/or table warmer. Clients leave their clothes on for this kind of bodywork.
Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
I usually combine 30 minutes of focused reflexology with some other treatment, like Cranial Sacral Therapy or a 60 minute massage.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
I am trained in Level I and II.
I usually combine my Reiki energy work into a massage session when the client is comfortable with it. But I can do a focused Reiki session for 30 minutes. I would prefer to tie this work into another service, like reflexology, Cranial Sacral Therapy, or even extended head/scalp massage. This is because 45 minutes is the shortest session I provide.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain, and improved breathing and relaxation.
This kind of massage is done with the client lying on her side, with pillows supporting the head, torso and knees/ankles.
Additional knowledge:
Physical discomfort is often due to the effects of the pregnancy hormone Relaxin on the joints, which
can also add to the postural imbalance during pregnancy. "Relaxin is a hormone produced by the ovary and the placenta with important effects in the female reproductive system and during pregnancy. In preparation for childbirth, it relaxes the ligaments in the pelvis and softens and widens the cervix."
